Bombardier sponsoring INDY car racing??
#2
Well that's nice. Sounds like something Honda would do. Take all the money in profits from quads and spend it on something other than quads. Indy cars I've heard have over $1,000,000 budget on tires alone, and than theres motors, chassis, trannies, driver saleries. Think of the improvements that could be made to any product line with that kind of money in R&D.
Not bashing, but curious how they spend the money you invested in them.

Bombardier is not hurting for money, its one of the largest compnaies in Canada or in north America for that matter. They have billions for this kind of sponsorship so it wont take anything from atv r&d. If its true, it will however raise awareness of the sport and promote a very good line of ATVs. I dont see anything wrong with that.

I will be down here for the race working the event for the Bombarider ATV copper world 200. Hope to see some of you there. I think there suppose to have some pro baja rider jumping several Indy cars on a DS650. If they don't air this then I will try and catch it on camera and post it on the web. Last year we had Evil Canevil's (spelling) son jump Indy cars on a motorcycle. Who said the DS couldn't jump?

Sheeman, PLEASE don't tease me like that. when is this race and is it televised? I got to see the DS jumping those cars, and MAN it would be sweet if they had that thing as a PACE QUAD

I'm not sure about the Bomb being the pace car, but never the less, I will try and get coverage of the Bomb jumping. The information on the race including TV coverage info can be found here.. http://www.brickyard.com Click on the "complete event coverage" bottom left on the screen.

I live outside Indy, and work in the city. Here's the scoop:
Bombardier is a world leader in masstransit public transportation, as well as aircraft production, and there are plans for them to work with Indy on its transportation developments. They have bought rites to wear their name on the pagoda, a 160 foot tall building at victory circle on the Indy track, for the next five years, and they are sponsering this year's $50,000.00 rookie of the year award, contributing to the 500's point fund, and sponsering a race in Pheonix this sunday.
Other sponsers include Chevrolet, Firestone, Coors Light, Reebok and MBNA.

I'm leaving for the race in a little while. I've been invited by a Bombardier rep, and am hoping to discuss some things with them over the weekend.
Here is the scoop I got from Bombardier executives a few weeks ago, about the "pace quad". It's going to be a Baja, with yellow plastic. They wanted the Baja for the lights[strobes] and the increased electrical output to run them as well as the tach. They wanted yellow because that's the color they are most recognized for. Greg Row will be riding it. It will be lowered somewhat, and wear flat track tires. Although it will pace the race, there will be a pace car behind it for safetys sake.
I haven't heard anything about a jump. It would surprize me if this were to happen, but it's possible.
