From what I have read iin other treads in the past it will cost you about 400-500 to ship an entire quad.

id say the cheaper way would be to come down here in the states and have your friend meet you somwhere to pick it up or vise versa

Yeah, shipping a quad is expensive because it has to be crated. Not only is it heavy, but the crate charge alone is going to be $100 at least.

Shipping a 2 wheel motorcycle costs about $350-400, more weight and bigger box = bigger charge. And that's if they like you enough to deliver it free to the crater and then shipping company. Sometimes you're looking at $100+ more to have the crate delivered to the shipper.

Why dont I just get my friend to call a dealer that lives around me, put in an order for a red 2002 honda 400ex and put it under my name and give the dealer my phone number(then he calls me), then he pay by check or credit card or something. Then I either pick it up, or it gets delivered to me.

thunderpower, in case you misse my post in the Honda forum replying to this I'll re-post it here:

I've seen you post this same post in a couple of places and it got me thinking.... This "friend" of yours is buying you a brand new 400ex??? Did you meet your "friend" on the internet by any chance? Is he asking for anything in return? Is he saying something to the effect that if you send him $500 for the shipping he'll buy the quad for you???

It costs at least 500$ canadian for a one-way trip. I used Kenmore Transport here in Quebec to send my quad down to HPD in Minnesota. Dont forget the duty, the fees and the paper-work. It added on another 300$ for a one-way... I try to forget that I send it down and then payed to get it shipped back! Waste of $$$.

Is this a good idea?

He calls a dealer thats around me, puts on an order for a 1999-2002 red or yellow honda 400ex, he does NOT put the quad in my name(if its in my name, and it gets delivered to me, i dont know if he payed for it!) so before I tell the guy that its for me, Ill ask if its payed for LOL...

This is the idea: My friend calls a dealer near me, buys a 1999-2002 honda 400ex, and tells the dealer that its for me, Layke Hicks, and he gives the dealer my phone number. When the dealer calls me, I will ask if its paid for in full price pst+gst, if he says yes, then I will arrange to get it delivered to my house.

I think he should pay for it by mailing a check, or credit card, not by cash, because he cant send 8+grand through the mail, LOL.
