My buddy just talked to the shop about his Raptor repairs and they were hesitant to say he would get his old parts back. I feel those parts are his and he is intitled to them back. The plastic isn't totaled and could be brought with us for spares on a weekend and the throttle that was broke I could repair for another spare part ( can't have to many spare parts!) Anybody had any problems with this ? Thanks.

As a general rule, the one who pays for the new parts, owns the old parts. Which means if the insurance Co. is paying for the repairs, your friend is not entitled to the old parts. That being said, the insurance Co. doesn't want the old parts, so you or him may be able to work out a deal with the dealer, after the settlement is complete.

Is this your experience or do you know the insurance buisness? I don't want to make a big deal about it with them, but was just wondering how that worked. Thanks for any info.

Like the king said the insurance co doesn't really want your parts but the dealer may want them, so talk to your insurance adjuster or your agent.
You can probably get a better deal that way talk to them first & mabey you won't get into a bidding war with the dealer.
When I got hit in my truck I bought the wheels back from the insurance co cheap but the body shop didn't want to give them up. They wanted to buy them too but I beat them to it.
Most people don't know you can buy your old parts back so if you hurry you can beat the dealer to the punch & get a better deal.

Heck. I bought my whole wheeler back from the insurance co after they totaled it. The dealer was going to pull the motor from it and sell it to a guy that needed it. $750.00 in new parts/plastic, and you would never know it was wrecked.
