i don't think that the banshee is the right quad for trails. it is my favorite uad though, but i ride dunes. it has a killer power ban that wouldnt be too great for weaving in and out of trees and stayin on whindy trails. i've never done it, but thats how i think it would feel. i have ridden a 400EX once, it was piped with a jet kit, pretty quick 4 stroke! it wouldn't be too far behind the banshee it was racing. it was ahead of me on my LT250R. they are wheelie machines too!

In spite of what some people may say or think, the Banshee is good in the woods. I raced a Harescramble last year with my 99 Banshee, and found it performed real well. I'll be racing more this year as well. To help out the bootom end, I went down to a 13 tooth from sprocket, and will be getting a cool head to increase the compression for this years racing.

Both are good machines. I haven't ridden a Banshee, but I own a '99 400EX. It is perfect for the trails. The 400EX does just fine in the dunes. I went to Glamis a month ago and rode a 400EX. I loved it. I could climb all the hills, minus one, and it had enough power for hardcore thrashings.

If you want the best of both worlds ( 2 stroke and a good trail machine) buy a good used 250R 4 trax it has excellant accelaration and speed and it also has better TRAIL manners in the woods than a Banshee

i own a banshee and its not all that the proud owners say it craked up to be I bought it for 6547.00 out the door and put another $1952.00 into aftermarket pipes reeds airfilters, dont get me wrong i love it and its fast but if i had to do it again i would go with the husaberg 500 it weighs about 200lbs less with twice the power and better than all the aftermarkets i put on mine already on it I ALREADY KNOW MY NEXT OPTION.
