whats the best sport quad in the woods
#2
I pick either the 300 or 400EX. If a ride will be primarily trails (and my daughters bike is available), I take the 300. If it has more variety (some fire roads thrown in), I might pick the 400. The 300 is just enough smaller than the 400, that it has a definite advantage on the trails I ride.
I rode a Warrior for years, and never liked how it handled in the technical stuff!! It always felt big and heavy!!

any of those bikes would be a good choice and heres a few more,Blaster mohave and lakota.Alot of it has to do w rider skill too,I dont care what any 1 says A Banshee is a handful in the woods,i Learned this the hard way,YES it will load up miserably on yaLOL.I have a 2000 banshee and a 2002 Mohave, and Ill say the MO is much friendlier in the woods even tho the SHee has sheer mojo. I would have to say outta all the quads in the 200 thru 300 range the Mohave would be the best most reliable quad due to its all disc brakes, liquid cooling and its goes on gas like the energizer bunny.FOr all ya guys that say ohh man 4 strokes are slow get ya heads outta the sand cause thats what I use to think too.

LT250r.. Screams when you want it . Disc brakes, water cooled, smokin hot 2-stroke.. If your not a 2-stroke person, i would say the new suzuki z400 thats coming out, or a raptor,or if your wallets loaded a cannondale speed, If your a smaller size person with a budget, i'd pick a 400ex

I only named the newer current bikes because LTs ,250R and even rarer is tecate 250s but if ya can find a well clean modded 1 and dont give a rats patootie bout reverse this is the quads to buy and ride.WHy the 3 companys dont listen to us and build a new Hi performance 2 stroke and forget bout the damn enviros and whats gonna happen 100 years from now.My friend might be selling his LT500 and Im soooo tempted to buy it and add 4 toys to my collection

I would personally stick with a 4 stroke in the woods. The low end power is always there when you need it. In most woods riding (tight trails), you aren't usually going more than 30 mph. So...I've always thought that a good handling 4 stroke was the best way to go. All 3 Hondas (400ex, 300ex, and 250ex) are great woods bikes. If reverse is a must, then you won't want the 400ex. I have also owned a Warrior, and it did very well in the woods. The Raptor is another option, but you'll never use all of it's power (unless you ride alot of fire roads), and it's hard to get all of that power to the ground. My buddy rides one, and his back tires are always spinning, in the same places that my tires just hook in.

i like strokes in the woods too. my LT was really good still tho. personally i haven't rode a quad that was better than my 400 out in the trails. i've tried warriors, banshees, raptors and lots more but i still prefere my EX. but to be fair i'm used to my 400 and i don't have all that much seat time on the other quads.

Get the 400Ex. I have ridden a raptor and I wasn't impressed with it overall. The machine had good power but did not handle as well as the 400EX. I have also ridden the Lakota Sport. It is a nice machine but doesn't have the power or the suspension of the 400EX. I think that the Honda is the best choice overall.
