The march issue of 4 wheel ATV action has a hi-performance shootout:RAPTOR x 400 EX X 650 BAJA X BANSHEE X CANNIBAL. If faster in a 1/8 mile drag race is your question the Banshee beats the Raptor by 0.09s (9.19 seconds to 9.28 seconds) according to their tests. But faster is also a relative question. Faster where? Track? Fireroads? Desert? Woods? The Raptor has the advantage in overall performance. It only looses to the Banshee in Fireroads and drag. But again not by much.Quad for quad the Raptor is the winner.

In the fall with my 01 Raptor and my buddies 00 Banshee lined up on a black top road and let loose, I got out about 3 bike lengths after 2nd gear. By the time I was tapped out in 5th he was beginning to catch me, if had kept going I know he would have passed me. The Raptor needs a 6th gear!!!! Now I have a full pipe and he is still stock, that 3 bike lengths has turned into 6 or 7 but we haven't gone all out again. I still think that in the long run he would still catch me. But how often do you really need that much speed?

TO my experience the banshee is faster ecept when traction is a problem with the banshee. On grass or on pavement the banshee walks all over the raptor, However on gravel they are close with the raptor winning more often, Most of my time spent racing them was at the dunes and well I was disapointed myself that the raptor was so slow. Yamaha spent alot of time on that machine and it should be alot better than it is. If I ever bought a 4 stroke it would be a raptor but I would surely do alot of mods to it!

My sisters 01 Raptor beats my friends 02 Banshee everytime in drags. Different riders same results. 1-4 bike lengths each time. Holeshot is the key. Distance of race would be another. If the Banshee would hook up and not spin the tires so easily it would be a different story. JMO

The banshee is faster top end and there about even in a drag. But one screw up with the banshee during the race can cost you big time.

I raced my stock 01 Raptor against my bro's stock '00 Shee (no changes from 00 to 01) when my Raptor was new, and the Raptor was clearly faster everywhere.
