I am going to purchase the +3 A-Arms for the Cannibal and want to go with the long travel shocks. I understand that the ball joints still will not allow for more travel even though the shocks have that capability. Anybody know where I can get different ball joints that will allow for more travel?

SparkyEX,

What a-arms are you buying? If you get the Moto a-arms/shocks/tierods everything will work just fine. I don't think the stock ball joints will fit into any of the aftermarket a-arms (not that I'm aware of anyway). Usually when you buy a-arms they come with ball joints. Remember that if your'e going to a ZPS setup you will need to get an aftermarket steering column to lower the tie rod ends so the tie rods don't hit the frame.

4Stroke, Maybe you can clear something up for us. If I remember correctly you are the engineer for cannondale and Corndog was suppose to send you the broken frame rail. Did he? If you can offer any insight into whether this is a problem or if it did even exist, we all would appreciate it.

4strokemadman - Will any aftermarket steering column work? Is there any specific ones that have this ability?

DEX2830,
Yes he did send it to me and no it does not seem like a problem.

Sparky EX,

I would recommend the Walsh steering stem. One thing though. With the stock tie rod location there is no toe out bump steer. As you move the tie rods lower you get toe out bump steer. It is possible with the stock steering stem to run zero toe (the moto comes this way and I prefer to run this on a cannibal). If you change to an aftermarket steering column you will need to run 8-10mm toe in (which is the stock cannibal setting).

4strokemadman,
Are there any problems with putting a ZPS system on a Cannondale with stock width up front? Or is this only an issue with the stem when you change the width of the A-arms and Tie Rods? Thanks

Mike XCR,

Since I don't know what the Min eye to eye is or the stroke for the aftermarket shocks I can't really answer your question. Basically if the aftermarket shock matches the min eye to eye and stroke of the stock shock you should have no problems (when using the stock a-arms). If you go outside that range (with the stock a-arms)you will not only have problems with tie rods hitting the frame but you will run out of ball joint travel.

4strokemadman,
Thanks for the reply. I have Elkas on the way and it would kill me if I was not able to install them right away. I was putting the frame skid plate back on tonight and noticed that the Tie Rods have made some contact with the frame. I hope this will not be a problem.
