I own a DS 650, but wanna sell it for a 250R. some guy actually wants to trade me for one. i ama big 2 stroke fan, i've owned to banshees. do u guys think a 250R is worth it, are they fast? are they reliable? will i be disapointed with the power? are the stock shocks good for jumping? any information anyone could give me would be great. thank you

 

Unless it's been totally redone (suspension and motor are probably tired), you are probably better off keeping your Bomb. As for the power, in a drag(stock for stock) your Bomb would eat it for breakfast.

 

i would say that your bomb. is worth more than an r but i would take a r over and ds anyday. my piped 250r runs even with a piped ds or piped raptor. i love my 250r and wouldnt trade it for anything. my stock shocks sucked, i just ordered up all new elka shocks. i will still only have about 5400 dollars into the quad. everybody complains about wear and tear on the 250r and how there beat up when u buy them. so u spend 3500 on a decent quad, put 1500 into suspension, put 1200 into a arms and axle, and purchase a good pipe and silencer and have something that costs as much as a stock ds or raptor and will out handle them in a big way.

 

well the quad has a fmf pipe,turf tamers on back, rear shock redone by some big company. i dont know man, i am so confused

 

if the 250r isnt race ready its not worth it. sell your ds and buy a 250r and do it yourself. otherwise its not worth it.

 

The 250R is the best quad ever built, period!! You cannot go wrong with an R, once you own one, you will never sell it. That's why they sell now for more than when they were new. The DS650 will probably outrun a stock R but just some minor mods to an R and the R will out run the DS, minor such as pipe, silencer and a rejet. Are they reliable, the last one built was in 1989, you tell me if they are reliable, they are still out there running. The stock shocks suck, except for the rear shock. All the aftermarket frame manufacturers have copied the R's frame geometry, what does that tell you?

are the 250R shocks as good as banshees shocks at least. i owned 2 banshees and was used to them, so if the shoclks on the R are even close, i will be happy. the guy will trade me plus give me 789 dollars. is this worth it still?

 

I've never ridden an R, but the shocks have to be better on it than a 'Shee. Stock Banshee shocks are horrible in my opinion.

 

The stock shocks on the R I'm sure are just as good as the Banshee's but keep in mind, the last year the R was built was 1989 so they are old!! Whether the R is worth trading or not depends on it's condition. What year is the R, the '88 and '89 are worth more than the '86 and '87's. What mods does the R have on it?
