Too much power!
#1
This question is directed to older riders of sport atvs. I'm 34 and I'm thinking of trading my 250r for 400ex. The problem is that it is just too hard to hold on to this bike for more that two hours straight. When I get home I'm brutalized. I love the power but even wearing gloves my hands look like sh$t when I get home.
Does any one else have the same problem?

Im only 15 but may be able to help. First of all get some quary grips if thats how you spell it. They are soft and I have never gotten blistered from them. I have a 400EX now I traded my Suzuki Quadrcer for. The quadracer was no harder than the EX to hang on to. Because the EX is a 4-stroke, it hooks up a little better and sooner because you dont have to wait for the power band, it pulls as soon as you gas it. I would suggest to you to ride alot or start lifting a little with you arms to condition them. I was exhausted after I first started riding, then I started lifting weights and its no sweat at all anymore. Best of luck to you

we are just getting OLD!! or maybe we are just riding harder? my back is more of a problem than my hands.i dont think switching to a 400 would help unless you need to ride at a slower pace and the r is just whipping ya.

I have more of a blister problem with my hands than vibration. I use hard grips so I feel like I've got ahold of the bars. My knees are what gives out now, but I'm not young and spry like you kids.
I'm 51 and not even thinking of giving up on the best quad ever made!
Neither is my 48 year young wife!

This blistered hand problem is big for me, I am going to be starting dental school this summer and dexterity and good hygene is very important. You wouldn't want a dentist with scabby, puss dripping, scarred hands to be working in your mouth.

Hey trapper, I'm going on Vacation to southern California next week, this is my first trip out west. I will be going to Vegas, Arizona and Cali (mostly palm sprigs). The main reason is I want to visit Glamis and Pismo. Do you know of any place that rents real quads near there. I probably will not have a truck to haul a quad either so closer to the dunes the better. Can't wait!

Rob,
The only places I know of that rent quads are one in Pismo Beach and the other place was Rec Unlimited in Orange but he has recently closed up shop. I really don't know of any other places, and the question has been asked at the ASA site several times and the same answers keep coming up. You might shop around in Palm Springs and see what you can find. PS is about a 2 hour drive from Glamis, and about 2 1/2 from where I live, so I don't know what's out there.
This time of year, Glamis is pretty hot. Most of the regulars quit going by the end of April but there are some "die-hards" that go all year round, they just ride at night.
A dentist with really ugly hands!!AARRGGGHHH!!! Well, blisters OK as long as you wear gloves and you tell me you got them riding! I cut a lot of slack for riders!LOL
