Jolly Rogers 5/5/02... Herbdon, Raptor660RNH, Lasher

Great race at Jolly, this past weekend. Unfortunately I was only watching. But I have a question for you guys. Do you know what #2 in the open A class has done to his bike. I know he has extended arms and TCS shocks, but what did he have done to his motor?? He was smoking everything out there, grab the holeshot doing a wheelie! He was clearing The table top on the backside right before the intimidator, as far or further than the fast 250s. Nice lookin bike Herbdon, what place did you get overall???

What kind of quad was the #2? I raced that class last year (Open A) and those guys are not only great riders but they invest a ton into the machines.
Did they ever post the overall scores? I was in the first race of the day (Vets) and after the second moto, I waited around for about 2 hours and they still did not post the results. So I have no idea what place I came in.
In practice I flipped the quad, caught a rut in a corner.
In Moto 1, I spun out right after the finish line as you round the turn where you can watch from inside the track. Caught back up to 8th place, when I lost a position at the finish line. I passed a guy (big guy on the DS) coming up to the table top at the line. I thought I had the position, so I did not jump, but he did and stole back 8th place, putting my in 9th.
In Moto 2, the crashes all morning made me nervous, so I hesitated on the start. I passed a bunch of people, but I do not my final spot.
Are you going to be racing at Southwick on 19th? Hopefully it will be dry this time.

The #2 was a blue Raptor. He lost his chain, or something in the first moto so he got a DNF. The second moto he took first easily. I did not get a chance to see any positions posted.
I will most likely not be attending southwick either, maybe just to watch. I have to go out of town that weekend on a mandatory business trip. I hear that is a tough track though, how does it compare to the other tracks in the area?

Last year there were no Raptors in that class. But there are ton in all the classes this year. So I have no idea what the guy has in the motor.
Southwick tough? That is putting it nicely. In actual races, I have only been to Jolly, Southwick and Wadlen. Practice has been EMBX, Uxbrdige and Jock Frost. Southwick is nothing like any other track that I know of.
When we show up in the morning, the track is flat with only dozer marks. Most corners do not even have a large berm. Whoops form by the end of practice as do small berms in the corner. By the end of the day, the berms are higher than the quads, the whoops will swallow you whole. Southwick seperates the men from the boys when it comes to riding in the rough stuff and conditioning. If you have stock shocks on your quad, prepare for them to fade after the first or second lap. After that you are hanging onto a bucking bronco. Been there done that. Oh, and Southwick will NOT fix the track during the day, unlike Jolly. But then again, the sandy whoops is what Southwick is famous for.

#2....HAS A 720 KIT IN HIS RAPTOR....we chatted at the southwick race.....i love southwick....tho it can kill your quad....damn sand gets everywhere....i placed 4th at the southwick race.....at jolly roger i got a 4th (moto 1) and a 6th (moto2)...practice went great a jolly....did all the jumps except the suicide hill....it's not any faster to do the jump....just looks cooler...moto 1 I was behind #9, could not get around him...he keep checking up on the big table top on the back stretch by the red building....3 lap, he checked up and i hit the throttle hard and power shifted....man did i check way too much air....overjumped the landing and hit the flat really hard....broke the rear brake line, jambed my right wrist bad, but got the pass and finished 4th....my damn sparks 690 kit is way too much power for mx racing...but i would give it up for any instant....more time on the bike will help me use it better....moto 2....my wrist was bothering me alot....but i toughed it out....the track was really rough late in the afternoon, and i only was able to finish in 6th....i finished the day out with a 5th overall...i am very happy with my racing this year....however, i have to work on my holeshots....i suck at them...hehee.....thanks for the compliment on my raptor...i worked hard on the research and putting it back together...i think i have one great quad...i will be ready for southwick on May 19th...hope to meet you all there....i am #352...and dont be a stranger...come by and say "hi"...

# 2 does have the 720 kit. He had the work done at Bikework in Maynard, Ma. 978-897-0044. I go to the races with him and unfortunately have to race against him in the 30+ class. That 720 has gotten every holeshot so far this year. He doesn't have tcs shocks though, he is running Elka's all around. I think the quad would be faster with the full big gun system off my quad. Right now he has the Yamaha headpipe, which is the same size as stock. We will be switching pipe this week before the next southwick race.

Not sure on how much the kit was, you'll have to call bikeworx to find out. As far as other goodies.... What about my raptor?? Loaded with goodies. Just kidding, stop and see us at Southwick this sunday so we can compare notes.
