the new atv sport is out and they tested the z400. they also mentioned the 400ex in the article. here's what they had to say, "Like the old Suzuki lt250r Quadracer is to the Honda 250ex, so is the Suzuki Z400 to the 400ex"
but hey, dont' worry guys, i'm sure you aluminum framed, efi, crf450 powered quad will be right out, lol, or maybe honda will just stop making high-performance quads like they did when suzuki came out with the lt500r back in the day.

Yea but what's really sad is Honda's 16 year old sport quad (250R) is still the quad to beat and this new Suzuki won't even come close!!
I'm amazed, it's 2002 and this is what Suzuki has been designing for how many years!! All they can come up with is no better than what Honda has been manufacturing in a 4 stroke for over 10 years!! Where's the aluminum frame, where's the EFI, etc., etc., etc.,!!!!????
Obviously Cannondale has no competition from any of these "Major" quad manufacturers. Why would you design something that everybody else has already been selling for over a decade?? GEEZ, get into the new century ZUSUCKY!!

I would like to see a zilla compared to a 250r on an mx track.hmmm i wonder who would win. Well I got to admit that Z400 looks good.

When i see Suzuki start racing with me in harescrambles and doing some good then i will be satisfied with them, i guess i will never be satisfied with them cause the local track i race on is nothing but honda country, if you aint got a 250R or a 400EX over there you might as well take'er home!

Well said briansgi!! I thought I was the only one thinking that way. All the fuss about this new susuki when all it seems to be is a slightly more powerful version of the 400EX(Yet that still remains to be seen). I still dont think the R has any competition. With that said my hat goes off to cannondale because they are sweet. I would love to have EFI w/aluminum frame

briangi, how do you know that the z400 won't be competitive with the trx250r? have you ridden the z400 yet? have you compared the two on a mx track and in the woods? i'm not saying the z400 will be better than the trx250r, i'm just saying that no one knows yet.

Well I have ridden one and i can tell you there is no comparison to a 250r. They feel like a raptor with a 400 motor stuffed in it. A slighly moded 400ex would hang with the z400 in a drag race.

I'm not saying the Z400 won't be competitive on the track, my complaint is why would you design something that is no better than the competition? It looks like it might be a little faster than a decade old 400EX, this is the best Suzuki could come up with, but still inferior to a 16 year old 250R! I'm trying to figure out who would buy this thing, only a Suzuki brand loyalist!!

briansgi, a decade is 10 years, the 400ex has been out 5. you also still didn't answer my question, in what way is the z400 inferior to the trx250r? have you ridden it yet????
