I recently installed a set of CV boot protectors on my 400 4x4 scrambler.
I noticed my lower A arm had movement front to back. Upon further inspection I noticed that there was no spacer/washer on the back side of the A arm between the bushing and A arm.

I went to the dealer and they said that the spacer washers break and fall off all the time. I was thinking it might have never been in there. I got the bike last September 01. Has any body else had or heard of this problem or was the dealer pulling my leg just to sell me a $3.00 spacer worth .50cents.

The bushings are made of brass and will break if struck .
How did you strike them hard enough to break them with out
damaging the A arm .

If you hit something hard enough, they will fracture.
My suggestion would be to get the HPD parts. They are bronze, instead of oillite brass. Might not wear any longer, but MUCH stronger, and less brittle. Their website is www.hpd-inc.com and they sell all kinds of upgraded parts for your machine. They are the ones that make the world-famous high-strength metal steering stem bushing to replace the plastic ones used on the pre '01 machines.

Only one washer was gone (right side rear). I see no witness marks on the arm or chassis, So I have no clue to what would have hit it. Like I said I wonder if it was even there from the factory. I do not have alot of mile on it. Thanks for the heads up on the HPD suspension parts. I have not looked at there suspension parts.
I already have the HOT SEAT lower steering bushing on our Trailblazer and Just purchased the HPD one for my Scrambler. The HPD and HOT SEAT lower steering support units look Identical. HPD one is Cheeper.
Thanks again.

Hey Bubba,
I was looking at your pics and noticed your tire combo. Now thats what I call an all-purpose vehicle. Paddles and the left and dirt tires on the right. I guess it beats having to swap them out all the time.

Yes X, it is great. LOL

When in sand I ride on the Left side , When on the Trails I ride on the Right. Took a lot of practice but I am getting pretty good. Its all about distributing your weight and I have a lot of it.
