any one try a k&n filter without the air box?

hey, im just wondering what the advantages would be if i removed the airbox and put a k&n filtercharger in there, would i notice any gain? thanks.. havent posted here for awhile hehe

I know alot of guys who used to drag race and on race day they would remove the airbox lid. They said the cooler it was outside the better the gain they got but it was very noticable anyway. Hope this helps.

My 97 scrambler 400 has a K&N filter with the air box removed. It was like that when I bought it so I couldn't tell about power difference. It does run good. However, if anyone out there has an airbox for sale that will fit my 400, I'll gladly buy it. I like to play in the mud and I really need an airbox!
