I bent my handlebars and now need new ones. Can someone recommend some handlebars that don't require an adapter and don't hit the tank?

Regardless of the type of bars, they will hit the tank without the adapter.

That sucks! The adaptor costs more than the bar itself. I wonder what the factory measumerments are?

About two weeks ago I ordered from Alba Action sports a set of Renthal Bars with there Billet Clamp Kit. The clamp is still on back order (due soon) and I just recieved the bars. What they sent me was Renthal # 636-01, or Alba # 48-688 which are Yamaha Banshee Bars. Quality and finish is superb. I don't have the clamp yet so I can't install but they feel close to stock as far as position. Any more info from others that have changed bars would be great, thx, Rich A

i used some pro taper bars. they bearly hit. you have to turn it all the way to make it. you can use them without raising your handle bars up.

Damn, now I'm really going to open up a can of worms. What got me started on changing the bars in the first place is that I want to install Trails Tech Computer I recently bought and mount it directly to the top of the riser mount. The best case sinero would be a Fatbar becuase it's strong enough to lose the center cross brace, which gives you great sight of the gauge. But! noone makes a Fatbar Center Clamp for a DS.
Can I ask you guys this, since I have access to local machine shop, would it be fairly simple to fab the Bar Clamp? and two, do the stock controls (throttle/clutch perch) fit directly on the Fatbars?? Thx in advance again, Rich A

I just put the cheapest set of bars i could find on (moose steel bars) for $15 dollars you can bend and replace a lot of them for the price of one set of fancie expensive bars. There was no clamp kits nesasary and they just barely rub when turned to full lock. The only modification i had to due was rerout the throtle cable. When you roll a 500 pound quad and the first thing to hit is the bars they are going to most likely bend even your fancie expensive ones. and if they dont youl probobly end up bending something even more expensive like the stering stem or its mounts. I would rather spend $15 on a new set of bars than $150 on fatty bars and mount adapters then anouther $300 on a new stering stem when i roll it. I remember when I was going threw this and a guy on here told me he rolled his ds and bent his factory bars so he got a set of nice aluminum ones and rolled it again and was braging that they did not bend near as bad as the steel ones but he still needed to replace them. All I could think was "I bet his parts man loves him. Why bend and replace chep parts when you can spend 5 times as much and replace expensive parts."

I have heard that Trail Tech has a adaptor for the fat bars for the DS although I have not checked (I will tommrow) seems like a good price $100 for the adaptor and bars
