Anyone working with the shops to get a dyno proven 60 hp? A pipe and remap is not going to get there. Just wondering if a recreational sand rider with a cannon is looking for bigger numbers. Can big improvements be found in the head like the raptor. I am starting to see a lot of raptors that have more than just the bolt ons, and the Ds boys are starting to get with the program. 45-50 hp raptors are showing up everywhere, 60plus hp seperates the movers from the shakers. What do you Dales have in store?

On a different note, have all the fx400's had the motors replaced?

What makes you ask if all the FX400's have had their motors swapped out?

I doubt "all" of the fx400 have had their engines swapped, only the ones that had problems, and it was only a very few in the grand sceme of things. Dont know if anyone is boring the dale engine yet or not, havent heard, I think it would be cool to see though.

Briansgi- The motor question because of the fx's that the factory took back and were returned for refurbed canabiles. I had heard/read of cannons puking oil and getting motors but thought that there was a flywheel breakage problem with the early fx's. The motor issue seems to be a bigger deal than raptor trannies. We all know what yamaha thinks lol. Are the motorcycles having the same theething problems? I know cannondale is fixing these problems and will in the future, but i am sure some butts are getting chewed in the board room.

Back to the modd question- I am sure when trinity or some one starts tearing into these motors they will find/correct weakness found on the way to 60 hp if it is there. I think a 60 hp cannon would be sweet!! Might need one of the new patrotics in the garage if i know i can get the 60 hp. Playing in the sand and strip that is the bear minimum that I WANT. Hard to believe we were happy with 300ex's, warriors, mojo's a few years back.

I don't think they're too far away from finding the 60hp. Big Gun is getting 51hp with just the Moto mapping and they're Race Series slip-on.

When I toured the factory, I talked with one of the guys in the Engine R&D department. I asked what could be done to the engine to increase the horsepower....he told me that a regular engine builder would not have much luck with the engine. "You need to forget everything you've learned in the past about fourstrokes" were his exact words. To port the engine effectively, you'll need to spend alot of time on the fuel/air system first. Learning how it functions and to make sure it works properly with the mods. To do it right, buy 2 engines and start playing....after you've had the proper training. Engines run $5,000 a piece. He said too many people will just try to port the head without following the proper steps and messing up the engine. He had many "secret" engine configurations in his computer and locked up in a cabinet. He has worked with the Nac's team with some succes. He had Kory's engine up on the bench with the "oil puke" problem...and was looking into it.

With the current fuel/air setup, I think it's going to be a problem. He said they where looking at a larger air intake and different injectors to go with different head porting. It looks like alot of trial and error, but I think it is possible to get the 60+hp. They where also looking at running one large injector -vs- the two smaller ones. I don't think we'll see a high-performance shop release any concrete power mods this year. I know Trinity has a beast they're working on, but they won't tell anyone what they've done so far.

The engine monitoring system they have in the factory is unbelieveable. They can tell you anything and everything about the motor as it is running. You can not see the engine past all the wires going to it. It will tell you the temp. of the engine at any location, the performance of the fuel system and other stuff. They have also recorded a engine in a race mode, and loaded it onto the test system. They then put an engine on it and ran it for 100 hours. Tore the engine down and it showed no pre-mature wear. So it is a heavy duty engine, but Cannondale them selves are still tweaking it for power and what have ya. We can't expect a aftermarket shop invest alot of money into the research and pass it on to us too soon. It's going to take some time....but it'll get here as long as the goverment doesn't get involved again.

As programes try to build idiot proof software the world is producing begger idiots.

I sure would like to know what they are up to, so I can get some.

Thinking of porting and polishing and other stuff.
