I just read the other day about how CT has just put the RAVE valve on the Pro-X cylinder and Nikisil the cylinder. I know Duncan has also did this this past summer and I am wondering if anyone has seen them run or the cost of it.

Actually Nics-proX did all the development of the new power valve cylinder and they had CT test a few things, but they didn't come up with it. I don't know how it runs, according to the article very well, and if you want to know the price and how it runs, give Nics a call.

I guess sometimes the articles in the mags can be missleading, like the one recently where they said that Farrell Yamaha Donated 2 YZ426F's to Baldwin Racing for there project. That's not true, Mark bought both of them, they weren't given to him!!!

Hope this helps,

Sickman

Well, I purchased a new Power Valve cylinder from CT and I haven't received it yet. I have a few weeks to go because they haven't even made them yet. I got the whole engine kit, which includes a 38mm PWK, CR250 intake and reed cage, CT high rev pipe and silencer, cylinder, head, piston, gaskets, spacer plates for intake and base. Let me tell you it was not cheap! It will have more HP than the other motor kits you can buy and over a larger powerband. The power valve changes the port timing based on the engine speed and exhaust gas pressure. Lower exhaust port for bottom end and increase port height for top end. My R is going to scream around the track that is for sure!

The cylinder alone, which is Nikasiled, is $1200.

You can get a boreable version also, which is obviously not Nikasiled for about $200 cheaper. I figure that the money I will save in boring and pistons, while getting better cooling and HP with the Nikasiled cylinder is worth it.
