Doe's anyone know step by step how to adjust the valves on a honda 300 or where I can find some documentation on it.

On most engines the intake and exhaust valves have different clearances. you'd be well advised to invest in a Clymer shop manual or similar reference for the complete specs as well as photos, torque values, etc.
