pro flow filters
#1
I own a 93 warrior that is stock. I bought a uni filter that is a stock replacement. The filter goes over the stock frame, and the lid locks it into place as usual. It seems to seal fine. Do I have to do anything with the fuel/air mixture, or should I leave it as is. This was the only modification I made. Is this filter change good enough or should I look into a Pro Flow intake system. I will spend the 90 bucks if anybody feels its worth it. I want to keep everthing else stock. If I go with the Pro-Flow system, do I need to adjust the fuel/air mixture for it. thank you

fal308,
If you did nothing else to your ride, I'd dump that sorry excuse for a filter system that Yamaha refuses to change. I ride a Warrior also & the first thing I did was to invest in the Pro Design system. I use the term invest because an efficient filter system is the most important investment one can make in the longevity of one's engine. The Pro Flow unit is a fail safe mounting system, and when it is clamped onto the billet aluminum adapter it allows no dust whatsoever to enter the intake. As you may know the system comes with two filters, one of which is an outer wrap. Unless you're in an extremely dusty environment there is no need to use the 2nd filter.
Because this unit allows an increase in airflow, yes, you'll no doubt need to rejet carb to compensate for the increased air flow. I would think that one size fatter (150) main jet would be sufficient at your altitude if no other modifications are to be made. As always, whenever a jetting or airflow is made, it is well to do a plug read after a test ride at 3/4 to full throttle. I believe you will see an improvement in performance with the Pro Design system due to the better breathing. It won't be earth- shattering, but you'll know you made a difference & your engine will thank you.
