anybody had this happen?

Well i think i really did it this time. I was riding at St. Anthony sand dunes this weekend and flipped the DS completley upside down. It was upside down for maybe one minute. Well when i turned it back over and started it up the oil light was on. I then shut it off let it set for a couple of minutes and started it again same thing. Well like an idiot i desided to try and baby it back to camp and made it about 300 yards and the motor slowly came to a stop! Well at this point i had a buddy ride back to camp and got the tools i needed to bleed the oil system. Well i bleed the oil system and went to crank it over and it made about two revolutions and stopped! Well now i think ive really seized it up by this time, so we towed it back to camp and i pulled the plugs out and it turned over like there was nothing wrong, so i squirted a little penetrating oil in the top end and let it set for a few minutes, put the plugs back in it and it fired back up and now it seems fine. No oil light on, no noise, and idles perfect! I did not ride it anymore because i think i should pull the motor out and pull it down and see what happened, before i possibly do anymore damage. Im really baffeled because it did not seem to get hot at all when it seized the fan never came on or anything! O i also pulled a plug out when it quit to see if it possibly hydraulicked from beeing upside down and the plug was dry. Im not sure if it was seizing at the crank or the piston or what? Any help would greatley be appreciated! Im not sure what to do at this time! Any ideas? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

OMG!!!
I would pull it apart!
Chances are whatever caused it to stop, will come back to haunt you.
I have seen other posts in the past, where this has happened and usually the crank bearings goes out.
With the dry sump system, the secondary pump...pumped your motor dry....while your primary pump just cavitated (pumped no oil)
They cured the roll over OIL problem in 2001,with a bypass line to the oil tank.

oh god, after reading this post i was scared to death. i just flipped my DS this saturday down in my swamp and had to leave it upside down for at least a half hour becuase i was worried i broke my foot. i had to crawl out of the swamp and back to my house. after i got feeling back in my foot i drove my gramps polaris down and flipped back over and it started right up. can this still happen to 01's or 02's, or was it just the 00's? i havent drove my DS enough after to figure out if anything is wrong.

I can't beleive what I'm reading. Riding with no oil pressure???
Anyway, the '01 and after DS's have a little vent tube teed into the oil line from the tank to the pump, so bleading is not required - it takes care of itself - but not the '00's. Chances are, an '00 upside down got air in the line, and cavitated the pump, and the system needed blead from under the filter cover. Sitting for a while can serve to avoid the need for bleeding too, soemtimes. it seized from heat, heat that never made it to the cooling system, and turned over later after it cooled and things contracted. Engine life has decreased, to what extent I don't know.
Bottom line though - don't ride with a red light on.

Dude, samething happened to me and one other DS owner on the boards last year, both quads were 2000 models. We both ended up with a $3000 dollar repair bill. Bombardier customer service picked up half the bill but hey, $1500 aint no chump change. Get it cheked!
