Just wondering which one would be better of a sport maching 200s or bigred. I know neither are but which one is closer and why. What are the power difference and speeds. I am comparing the 200s with the 200bigred

The 200S is a chain drive machine with no reverse.. the big red had racks and shaft drive and dual range with reverse, much nicer rig if you ask me. Fastest=Big red by far. 200S may hit 50 while the big red in high range will blow the 60MPH mark (no joke dudes, with it's dual range 5th is so high the motor hardly pulls it on flat ground) The big red can pull anything in low range, it is by far the most powerful becasue it has 10 gears to pick from..personly I blast dunes in 4th low range becasue it is right between 2nd and 3rd high range lightest=200S most fun balsting around but the big red does everything well and with its reverse dual range and shaft drive I love My 84' 200ES over my friends 200M (much the same as the S)

I had a '84 200s and a '83 200 Big Red, but it was before the shaft drive, racks, and low range. The 200s had noticable more throttle response and it was quicker, but the Big Red had it in top speed. Neither were good for sport riding because they had no rear suspension and very little front suspension, and didn't have the power to pull off good slides.

I would look for a 200x. It's pretty fast & powerful for a 200 4-stroke, and has decent suspension front and rear and can be slid easily.

200s not slide easily? My old 200s would slide easily,it was stock I just took the airbox lid off,it could do a wheelie easily all the way into 4th.The top speed of it was 54 mph.It was a whole lot quicker than my Dad's friends bigred,it was hard to keep the front wheel down in 1st and 2nd.The 200x is better if you like manual clutch, and better ride w/rear suspension, but that 200s will keep up with no problem.SEE YA LATER

i had a 84 200s. i think it would be a little more sporty than a big red because its lighter. it was pretty fast too i could keep up with my stock blaster no problem. you could whip donuts like nobodys business too! you could jump it (we did a little) but with hardly any suspension the landings were really hairy. but i never dumped the trike once. i loved that little machine

Whoa there! 200S is sporty! The "s" in 200S stands for sport. I had a 1984 Honda ATC200S and it was awesome. It was lighter then the Bigred by alot. I could pop alot better wheelies and catwalks then my friend on his BigRed. And by the way, Which BigRed are you talking about? the BigRed was made from 1982 to 1987. It started out chain drive with no reverse or rear suspension. then in 84, it got shaft drive and reverse, and in 85-87 it was a complete different machine. Different chassis, 50 more cc, rear suspenion, but it did lose it`s high and low. Anyways, if it`s the 82-84 BigRed your talkin about, the 200S will whip it`s arss no problem in top speed and sportyness. But the newer BigRed, (85-87) had alot bigger engine, so they could go faster, but the 200S could still hold it`s own. I regret selling my 200S, it was prbably one of the best machines I have ever owned. I completely restored it, it was almost mint condition. I even used to have a 200X with a 200S transmission, and i could keep up to QuadSports and mojaves with it, not to mention all the 4x4 quads that i smoked no problem. To see lots, and lots, and LOTS of threewheeler pictures, just check outmy site. it`s the best 3wheeler site on the whole internet. Anyways, happy trails,

This one is for JRM and his post.
A 200S is NOTHING like a 200M. A 200S can blow away a 200M in top speed. I grew up with all my buddies on 200Ms and BigReds, when i rode a 200S.
I also forgot to mention in my last post, that in the end I ended up putting a 1982 BigRed engine into my 200S. So i got the advantages of having Hi and Low plus a superlight frame compared to the bulky Bigred.

I was always told that the M was the replacement for the S.. We can safley say that the S is the sportyest 200 and the big red is the least with the M in the middle?

Well, actually, the 200M was not a replacement for the 200S. Infact, the 200S was made until 1986, the 200M was last made in 1985. The 200S has more in common with the ATC200 or ATC185/185S.
Thats what the 200S replaced. Yeah, your right about the 200M being in the middle of the 200S and BigRed. The 200M actually shares more in commom with the 82-83 ATC200E BigRed, except for the fact that that model had high and low. I have owned many 3wheelers. From an 82 atc200E BigRed, 2 84 atc200S`s, an 84 atc200M and an 85 atc200X. At the moment I`m sad to say I dont own any 3wheelers, but by the summer I plan to have another one. ANyways,
