Ok,
I changed my oil and all I had was a few pages copied from the service manual at my local dealer. It did not say how MUCH oil I need to put in the machine when I change it.. It only says refer to the oweners manual (witch is on back order) So i put it in and looked at my dip stick and there are 2 rings on the bottom.. My guess is that the Min & Max, It's over the top ring by 1/2 - 3/4 inch.. is that to much? drian some oil? or is it fine????
This is the 10 hr service. Do I need to change tranny fluid and filter????
Thanks guys, Dont be too harsh on me...
PS this is an 01

It takes about 3-1/2 to 4 qts to fill. I usually put 3 in then start and run it to let the oil go everywhere it needs to (1 minute or so) then shut it off. Let sit for a few then add until its between the lines. Do a search on oil and you will have all your oil changing questions answered plus have plenty of hot tips to help make it easier.

The tranny uses the engine oil so you already changed it and YES definatly always change the filter, especially on the first oil change.

See...no laughter. This is what we do in here - help the new guys out.

All laughter is reserved for the guys from the Yamaha forum. lol

Yes that is too much oil the level should be between the lines. the manual says 3.3 quarts. Yes change the filter.

Ok next dumb question WHERE IS THE TRANNY FILTER? I am not used to this engine, it not the conventional engine, every thing is internal all filters and such.. Like I said, I dont have the manual to guide me to the filters.. Heck it took a while to find the dipstick.. I thought it was the radiator at first,, Then I found the fill for that!!! I took it out today and WOW its sweet!..

Did you check the power steering fluid? This is very important.
