My Friend at the shop I get alot of my work done at just got back from the Yamaha dealer show. He said Yamaha is building the Quad to rule the 400 class market. He said a Yamaha rep let it slide by and it will be a YZF426 motor in an Ultralite Chassis it will weigh in at about 340lbs. dry. From what I understand this 426 motor is the $hit. I guess it will be the replacement for the Banshee, I'll miss the hell outta that bad *****.
so far everything this dude has told me has professed to be true. You see he's one of the largest dealers in Nebraska an he also told me about the Suzuki DuneRacer 800 an 800cc Duner. He broke the LTZ400 news to me about a Year ago. I'll keep ya'll posted.

That would be a giant step in the right direction for Yamaha!

Let's just hope they don't use the Banshee/raptor air intake and poor excuse for an axle!

Maybe Yamaha is just being pro-active because of all the information and articles about the Whole "2 Strokes being banned thing".
Boy, that would be very SMART of them to stay ahead of they curve like that.

I figured a 426 quad was coming out soon... hearing "under 340 lbs." is especially AWESOME. I didn't see the YZF 426 bike in the line up for 03, so they had to do something with it right? Why not throw it in a GOOD quad frame. We can all HOPE that it doesn't end up being really tuned down, but they didn't tune down the Z400 motor to much (except for a majorly restrictive intake and exhaust) so I would imagine there wouldn't be a whole lot of room for "detuning" if they want to blow the competition out of the water. Another thing to hope for is that they (Yamaha) get involved in the racing scene. THAT would truely mark a great day in quad racing... if Yamaha gets involved, it will only be a short time before the others companies (Kawazuki Cat, Bomb, Honda, Poolaris) get involved! If any of yall sport quad riders that don't race think it wouldn't effect yall and that it doesn't matter, think again. If the companies get involved in racing, they will want the best on the track which would result in better, MORE POWERFULL, LIGHT WEIGHT, quads being released into the public. Just look at Cannondale, the Moto 440 is in it's first season of MX and the new moto's and Blazes are already going to be lighter, and have a little more power. Once the factories get involved in racing, the quads only get better.
