I use Yamalube 20W 40 now but wiil change over to Yamalube Semi-synthetic shortly.
The manual says the total amount used in the Raptor is
2.3L~2.43 US quarts
1.9L~2.01 US quarts without filter
1.95~2.06 US quqrts with filter
The manual says to change the oil filter every other oil change but I always changed it every oil change.
Now I have a Scotts reuseable oil filter, It's a neat piece check it out on This thread

Weasle, I wouldn't use an automotive type oil in your Raptor, They contain additives that can cause your clutch to slip.

I used 20w40 of yamalube and never had any problem..... just stick with what Yamaha recommed.
never use auto oil at all. it not made for the bike because you have clutch with the gear box. Car don't have that.
Just like THEMOOSE mention it earlier.

Valvoline 10W-30 semi-synthetic. Yes, the clutch will slip if I get on the throttle hard before the machine fully warms up. After that, it's all good.....been running it for months.
