Pretty much solid. It was the last production year for the 350 Big Bear. Had updated disc brakes up front (older had drums). 5.9" suspension travel at all fours. They've used this engine since 87, so all the bugs are worked out.

Its a good bike.

I had one. It had all the low end power you'd want. It was geared way too low, and topped out at a very low speed. It would have been great for farm work, but I don't own a farm. I sold it after two months.

I had a 99 big bear 5 spd in beige. The bike never let me down. The only reason I sold it was I wanted more speed,(bought a Traxter-BIG MISTAKE-back on a Yamaha now) but if I had a budget and could only buy in that price range, the 99 Big Bear would be the bike I'd own. Period. It was extremely dependable (3 years, no repairs) and I worked the absolute sh%t out of it. Plowed, towed, dragged jumped, pushed, etc. etc. Never a whimper. (my father in law has a 93 big bear SE which had the trailer flip over on it in 94, he's been TRYING to break it ever since so he has an exuse to buy a new one. Hasn't even changed the oil in three years! I think he's stuck with it LOL)
Hope this helps!

I have a 98 4WD Big Bear and haven't had any problems with it. The only downfall is the top end speed of 45 m.p.h. At this speed it sounds like it going to blow up because it is geared so low.
