i think i have a record breaker here, my brother-in laws neighbor has a 2001 300ex and has owned since new and to my knowledge has not changed the oil once and he drives it hard every day, my 93 warrior runs better than it (when i have spark, see my other post) but how long can it run like that? thanks,

if it is a good oil, it will take a LONG time to break down, to the point it won't work anymore... but, if you get crap in the oil (metal particles etc) that would be bad
My neighbor had a 250x that was running like shiznit, we changed the oil and it ran great afterwards... weird
I haven't changed the oil in my wolvy in about a year, but I prob haven't put 10 hrs on it in that amount of time

Take this guy around the corner and kick him in the *****, what a dumbass, seriousy though if this guy is your ridding partner I would tell him to change it or your going to be ridding by your self when his Honda goes **** up.

well Moose, guess what..... his dad bought him the quad, he crapped the rear brakes too. thankfully i have 2 other riding partners (raptor, wolverine) and they take care of their quads. i wouldn't ever go riding with this guy alone, believe me

You want the real answer right? A very long time with the right oil, probably 300 hour intervals. I'm not saying you can, it varies from motor to motor, at 20 hours is a waste, and perhaps 100 hours is pushing it on some motors. The 300ex uses the honda internal paper filter right? (not sure here) That'll trap bearing/surface damaging debris, then it's down to two major factors, soot capacity, and viscosity breakdown. Modern oil has high soot capacity just generally, and with synthetics viscosity breakdown is quite slow. I'm happy at 100 hour intervals for all modern motors in good shape ( read forced pressure lube with filter ) 300 hours might be obtainable with a quad on sythetic but last I checked none of the legitimate quad owners were that cash strapped.
( if the 300 ex just has that goofy honda screen element then about every 25 hours, like a briggs lawnmower, sorry but that's about the tech of that motor. )
