I'm back.... I'll take the Predator, with a capital P for Polaris!

Yes, I've been over there in Bombardier land for the last year or so.
In fact I have two DS-650's right now, but I have decided to sell them and get a Predator. I've always liked the buy it and ride it Polaris concept, they are good to go just as you buy them. The aftermarket tab on my son's Raptor and my DS has been astounding.
Wider this, better that. With Polaris it was always what you see is what you get, and don't bother with anything more than a fender bag or a rack extension.
I like the Cross-Country version of the Predator, which will suit my style of riding out here in the wide open spaces just fine.
Those back east gotta have it narrow guys never did hear a complaint from the Sportsman crowd. I think the aftermarket makes more money off of Yamaha than anyone. I may get to ride a Predator next month, I'm sure I'll get to see one, as will many of you, in Orlando. See you there......

I have been thinking about putting the 400 and 250X up for sale and getting a predator. My only problem is I am afraid I may miss having reverse. When I asked my Polaris dealer they also told me to go to www.predator.com , I was hoping for some pricing info. Oh well I guess I will find out next month.

I just hope Polaris's reputation of quality, or lack of it actually, changes with this new sport quad. If it is anything like their other quads as far as dependibility goes, then this will not be the most reliable sport quad made for sure.

Aren't the boards for people to help people with common questions or problems?
I wouldn't see the point of us all sitting around glad-handing each other about how great our quads are.
I have had one thing go wrong with one of my Polaris', it cost me $50.
Forlix, thanks for your post here. You make an excellent point about the aftermarket. You don't pick up a ATV mag and see replacement "upgrade" parts on every other page for Polaris. However, Honda & Yamaha parts are plastered all over them. Why must you spend $6K on a quad, then replace 50% of the original equipment in order to enjoy it?

fourlix,
I hate to say this, but I'm in complete agreement with 3TV. The Bombardiers you have are darn nice quads. I'd hate to see you get a new machine without even having read a shootout on it. Heck, for all we know it could be the biggest, most unreliable dog around. Then again, it could be the best. Quien sabe?

iszadan,
Who are you? Why are you calling me a fool? How long have you been a member on this site? How new is your quad? Okay, that's what I thought, it's a 2002. Unless you've owned another Polaris before that little Trail Boss of yours, then I would respect you better if you just kept your mouth shut when acting like you know about Polaris's reliability. It is a FACT that Polaris is one of the least if not the least reliable manufacturer. Yes it all comes down to maintenance and how you ride it, and believe me, this thing is maintained better than ANYONE else's quad that I ride with. It is sitting in my garage sparkling clean, polished, greased, and of course chained up. You want me to send you a pic of it?
I really try told hold back what I really want to say. I try to be someone on this forum that is respected. I try not to be a punk, cause I'm not. I never started a single bash post, just like a lot of others on this forum. Of course we get the occasional little punk that likes to start a problem in the Polaris forum, and like a lot of other Polaris riders in here, I either try to ignore them or I post back sticking up for Polaris. I don't know how long you have been member here iszdan, but perhaps you should stop from calling someone a name or acting like you know it all. I don't know you and you don't know me. For all I know you could be a mechanic at a Polaris dealership, or just a 15 year old kid who had their parents buy him/her a brand new Trail Boss. Sure we could all hide behind the protection of our computer screens and type what we want. All I am saying is that if this new quad doesn't match up to the realiability of the other manufacturers sport quads, then that't too bad for Polaris. I HOPE this quad is going to be good. I HOPE this quad earns Polaris a good spot in the sport market. GOSH!!! The more I type the more I get mad. So I'm just gonna stop here.
Do you want me to get Bill (MUDDY4LIFE) to come here and post a reply about what he thinks of Polaris??? I don't think you will be too happy about that judging by the way you reacted to mine! I'm sorry if I offended anybody, I guess I was wrong. I won't post anymore of my opinions and I'll ban myself because I was a "fool".
Sorry guys.
Let's all have fun and ride! (If your quad isn't broken down! lol Just playin')

Reliability has been a big issue with Polaris, and they know it. The number one directive at Polaris is to change that and it's perception. Yes, there were problems, especially in the mid 90's. But if you are the owner of a recent model Polaris you may be wondering what all the fuss is about, because reliability has improved markedly and is on par with any other leading manufacturer.
....One way Polaris leads all the other manufacturers is the way it constantly improves and refines its products, even in the middle of a production run if it can make an improvement it does. The Japanese manufacturers consistently turn out the same old Sushi. Yamaha's second year refinements to the Raptor were unprecedented. Honda is Honda, and they make what they make until the production run is done. I was delighted and surprised to see them put switchable 2wd/4wd on the Foreman.
.....Once upon a time there was a country known for making shoddy merchandise. Cheap paper and plastic products from this country had a reputation around the world for being crap. Then along came Sony, and Honda, and that perception changed worldwide. Made in Japan has a very different meaning than it did 40 years ago.
.....Polaris has already made the change, and is continuing to make their products better every day. The perception will follow, but it takes time. The owners of the 2000+ models will attest to this. I've had 6 Polaris ATV's since 2000 and they've all been dependable and reliable. I believe the message. But I'll sell my Bombardiers one at a time,,,you know that first year model thing.
