I'm in the market for a sport ATV, and I've really pretty much decided that I want a Banshee (I have dreams of turning it into a street-legal machine, but that'll come later). Anyway, I've been looking in the local classifieds, and the only Banshees for sale are new, and obviously too much, and I'm having a hard time figuring out what an older one would be worth.
I'm wondering if anybody thinks it'd be possible for me to find like a '92-'95 Banshee, maybe older, in the 2,500$ range or less, that's still in good condition. Or is this going to be one of those situations where, since it's in good condition, no matter what year it is, it's still gonna cost quite a bit?

Any opinions or help would be greatly appreciated.

I would think you should be able to find something in your price range. Have you tried a classified magazine such as Cycle Trader? Try this link

See, the problem is that I don't want to leave the state just to buy an ATV, and the only ones I've ever seen for sale in local buy/trade/sell magazines are almost new, and in online ones such as Cycle Trader, they're all halfway across the country. Same situation with eBay.

Perhaps I just need to be very very patient...

Remember "Patience is a virtue" I would say raise your target price if you can afford it. You would probably be happier in the long run if you bought a clean late model one in the $3500 range anyways. Good luck with your search and purchase.

Well, either I raise my target price, or I settle for a Warrior. I found a '95 that I can probably get for 2200$ or less...

It sort of ruins my dreams for a street legal machine, as a Warrior really won't be able to keep up with the cars (at least as well as a Banshee would), plus... I really want a Banshee... lol...

Hmm...

::sits patiently::

One of my boys at work had a 90 Banshee in excellent condition drop in his lap for $1400. It has FMF exhaust and other mild working over, worn out rear tires, not beat up at all. He put a K&N and Holeshots on it, it runs and looks like new. Be patient, something will come along. He wasn't looking real hard when this deal came along.
