put on a $10 autozone horn, a harley mirror, extra set of harley foot pegs i had around so i can even have a passenger. went down to D.M.V. got it inspected they gave me a new registration, found some cheap insurance, and im off! i went over to a friends house last night, got some pretty f*#@ed up looks on the way. had some punk in a beefed up jeep wanted to race me, so i smoked him. all these years riding motercycles on the street and it was still a rush to run around metro phoenix on a quad. sort of scarry.
ive been trying to figure out why i went through the trouble to do this and the only thing i can come up with is- BECAUSE I CAN!

Hey all....first post. I have been wanting to make my bike street legal, I just wasn't sure you could. What all do I need to do? Doesn;t it have to be a certain length and width?? Please help, I'm tired of neighbors calling the cops on me for riding in my neighborhood.....
OBTW, I live in Oregon...laws may be different???

im not sure about the laws in other states ,but her in AZ you have to have a mirror, horn that is a certin amount of db.(no bicycle squeeze horns, brake light, tail light and a clear license plate light. the raptor has the later three.
you are suppose to have fenders or mud flaps that are 10"off the ground . the raptor dosen't have this and i am not legal in that respect. i am not sure about the thing with the tires. im sure that there is a law that says they must be dot approved, but here in AZ they have been letting golf carts and 3-wheelers on the road for years and years and im sure that they dont all have d.o.t. approved tires on them.

Im about to get my title for my banshee and was thinking about making it legal for Arizona. Do you think have shaved fenders will be a problem?

i think if you were to get pulled over by gilbert P.D. that it would depend on the guy that pulled you over. if they saw that you had a street registration, insurance, horn, etc. they may not bother you. if you were riding up north on fire roads and such, i would bet my bike that they wouldn't mess with you. me and a friend got pulled over once for crossing baseline rd.near higley and got away with a warning. so it must depend on the officer and if he had his doughnuts yet.
i cant drink just one!
were do you live/hang out?

Do you think if I called the DMV they could give me the needed information on making my quad street legal?? Also, do you need a motorcycle license? It could go both ways....it is in a way a motorcycle, but it has four wheels, making it like a car in a way?? Thanx for all the help.

Bajads650, the problem with getting your DS registered is that you will need a CDL (Commercial Driver's License) to drive it since it exceeds the weight limits for a normal passenger vehicle.
Just kidding there, couldn't resist. Best thing to do is call or visit the DMV (check online too) and see what Oregon's rules are. 95% chance that you will find that it is too much trouble. About the MC license, in Wyoming you have to have a MC license or a "recreational" MC license which is just for ATVs and is only the written portion of the MC license test but no road test. My wife has one and I have a regular MC license. That's how it works in WY but is probably different in Oregon.
