98' scrambler 400 and 97' sport 400

my friend has a 98' scrambler 400 and we ride together all the time and i am thinking about buying a 97' sport 400.
will they be about equal in every aspect in riding? please let me know.

I have a 99 Sport 400, I love it, it's a great bike. However, if I had it to do ove again, I'd get the scrambler. Everyone said I wouldn't need the 4x4, that I would be fine with the Sport. Well, that's mostly true, but I can't ride in the snow, if I had the 4x4, I'd be able to do alot more winter ridding. But if that's not a concern for you. Then I don't think you'll be disappointed. Just my opinion.
