the best 686 pistion
#1
I was wondering what the best 686 piston to get is? My sleeve is messed up and needs to be bored.....so I am going with the 686. I know there is a lot out there so I would like to know what to stay away from as well and why. Thanks for any and all help!

JE is what I was leaning towards but just wanted to get as much info as I could before I broke out the plastic and ordered it!
Ward660.. I already have a 11:1 stock piston and am going to stay with that..seems to work good and I can still run pump gas with it.
The reason I am going with a 686 is because the dealer messed up my sleeve and they would only get me exactly what I had. Its a long story and I have pretty much give up fighting with them so I am just going to sell the brand new 11:1 piston I have and put the money towards a 686. Thank again

I am running an 11:1 compression. It's not quite as high strung as a 12:1 or 13:1. Yes, I will probably have more upkeep on it but I can still run premium pump gas with it.
So far I am happy with it. It does turnover a little harder now, but seems fine.

Yes, they are the same company now. Have the Wiseco pistons changed recently? The JE piston has always been a superior product compared to the Wiseco. Are they the same material now?
You guys running the 11/1 JE (actually 10.75/1) on pump gas, what elevation are you running at?

Well its a done deal....ordered a JE 686 piston 11:1. sucks being on budgit, I wish I could just send it all out to Trinty and have it all done ( or any race shop for that matter ) so I will only be installing the piston..no head work yet I will wait a few months for winter to get here and then do it. Its been costly to do tranny and all the other mods to this thing....I just want to ride it for more than a hour before something else goes wrong!
