I think my dad bought me a bad 1st quad..

Hey. I think I bought too much quad for being a beginner. I've ridden dirtbikes all my life and I have an ATC but i think this ATV is a bit to much for me. Well its a 87 Banshee ported, 29mm race carbs, dg chrome pipes and some other high performance stuff. We bought it from Joe Plochel (6 time national ice racing champ) and its in real good condition. He only wanted 1800 so it was a good deal. My dad kind of has a rep for buying us kids to much machine. He bought my brother a Yz250 when he was 13. But I am just wondering if this quad can be tamed or is it just an all out racing beast? I am not going to be a total ***** on it, but I dont have much ATV expierence, so I wont be going crazy. Will I fowl alot of plugs? I had that problem with the hand-me-down Yz250 from doing to much putzing. I wanted something that could climb and do jumps. Did i pick something good?

You poor kid! Your dad is such an evil man. If my dad had bought me something like that I wouldn't have given him the time of dad. Luckily when I was your age my dad just bought me a trx125 with no suspension that everybody could roost me on.
You didn't even give us your age.
I'm 25 and every time I go riding i hope i don't kill myself and when I get home i wonder how i didn't.

Oh. Well thats kinda funny. I am 15. But my brother has quite of a history with 4 wheelers and crashing. So he is the one most worried about me. When I was 11 I fractured my femur at the hip on my dirtbike, so now everyone thinks I am going to just kill myself on the banshee.

I would imagine it is tuned perfectly. I would DEFINITELY not try to tame it. Growing into a bike is alot more fun than growing out of one. You are very lucky, I had to buy my own as a kid and they were usually wore out. If you foul a plug, you can go to a hotter plug, but when you begin getting on the throttle you need to go back to the correct plug. DO NOT use a hotter plug if you are not having a plug problem or you are on the throttle pretty good!
