Blue Ribbon Coalition & "Day Use" fees
#1
Someone posted a complaint on one of the Usenet groups about the Blue Ribbon Coaltion not having a policy regarding the Fed's "Day Use" fees which have been initiated over the last year or so. It really upsets me when I encounter one of the U.S. Forest Service kiosks in areas where I've ridden for many years. When I asked them about the one on the way to Imogene Pass, CO, they told me the fees were for "improvements". I've not seen any such, but have seen that they've hired more personnel to collect these fees. I believe we ought to petition the Blue Ribbon Coalition to fight such fees.
BTW, if you are over 55, get yourself a "Golden Age Passport". It lets you in any of the National Parks and also lets you pass the NFS "Day Use" kiosks for free. I've also found that some State Parks give a 50% discount for holders. The fee for the Golden Age Passport is one I've not minded at all.
