Has anyone installed this kit. Do you recommend doing it? What are the chances that the oil injection system will fail? I'm considering doing this to my wife's Scrambler, but wanted to get some opinions? Do you have to change the throttle cable too? Thanks.

The oil injection is reliable. Mainly for piece of mind, but also weight savings. That oil tank up front, full, weighs in around 11 lbs. You can keep the same cable, you just "tie off" out of the way, the oil pump side of the Y. If you do, pre-mix at 40:1. I've used plain old Polaris blue non-synthetic with the race-mod, and it works great. No build up, and you can buy it in bulk from your dealer.

Removing the oil pump and putting on the simple flat plate that covers the hole couldn't be easier, be sure to seal it well though because it opens up into your counterbalancer oil. But be careful about simply using your old throttle cable. You will no longer have both the carb spring AND oil pump spring acting on it, you only have the one, and your throttle could hang open. This is especially true if dirt and mud get in the end of the unused oil pump cable. I put a light spring on the end of this unused cable to simulate the oil pump spring and then encased the spring and cable end in a small sealed tube with a little oil in it to keep it lubed. However, perhaps the easiest thing to do is to buy a single replacement cable from Dennis Kirk, HPD, etc.
