Which Quad?
#1
Hey, I'm looking into buying a new quad and want your opinions on what I should get. All I'm looking for is something that will fly(lol). As far as riding is concerned, any ATV can get down the trails around here and there is no handling issue either. So basically what I'm asking is: Which quad goes the fastest?(I would like to buy a Yamaha)
Thanks in advance

My opinion is that the Rap, Shee, Bomb and C-dale are all pretty equal in speed when stock. The question is, do you plan to modify it down the road? Cost of modifying, engine builder options, and how radical of modifications you plan to go should be well thought out, IF you are buying a quad to just be the fastest.
The Shee will/can be the fastest of them all, it's simple, it's a 2-stroke (but once making it crazy fast it will be far from being well suited for trail riding). Otherwise,...... the Bomb is expensive to modify the motor, c-dale doesn't really have anyone builing engine mods (atleast not yet) and the Rap well.........you will have all kinds of options.
Sure, I own a Rap, but I can't tell you what is best for you. You are the one that is spending the money and have to ride it. I hope I atleast brought some insight to your question.

If my memory serves me right, I thought the Speed was like 8(k) and the Blaze was like 10(K). Around here I know you can get a 02 Rap for 5700.- OTD an 02 Shee for 5100.- OTD, the Z400 for 4900.- OTD. Again, I'm not positive on the C-dale prices, but I am sure on the Rap, Shee and Z.

swytak gave you some good advice. He is right stock for stock the quads are right there.
As for building up, the banshee would be the easiest and have by far the most choices. But the raptor is not far behind.
Even modded, the ds and raptor are neck and neck. It just depends who spends the most money.
If you are settled on a yamaha, you cant go wrong with the raptor, but the shee is right there with it.
If you are riding mainly trails and woods, the raptor would be the better choice, but if you ride any sand or wide open areas, the shee would be my choice.

thanx, i'm pretty much settled on the Banshee cuz I like all of the mods you can do to it and I really dont do any serious trail riding. All I need to do is haul a$$ from point A to point B.

Well now, I would give that some thought, first of all, if you will be trail riding with others, the Banshee shure kicks up a roost, and that will most likely get you voted to the end of the line in Trail riding. A banshee also has a peppy, and "lightswitch" powerband which is not so good for trails. Also, the Raptor is just as easy to mod, but once you get it fast, the Raptor will still be ridable on trails, the Shee will not. I have nothing against a Shee, I just hope you are not spending your well-earned money on the wrong quad.
Also, Man I would get the Raptor just to hear that mean rumble comming from the exhaust, and not that girly pinging from the Shee pipes. When in Aledo a few weeks ago, seeing the Raptors come off the line, they were nice, and easy to ride, but the Shee's, man they were all over the place, left, and right, not to easy to control at high speeds.
Ok, MOST importantly, is the ease of rideablity. The Shee will have to have a whole lot more clutch work in the trails than the Raptor will.
Mx= Cannondale
Tight woods, trails, and Drags= Raptor
Desert racing, or endurance= Bombardier
All Dunes = BAanshee
Trails, and MX= Z400, or 400ex
Sound about right?
P.S: The DS650 will be the most stable at high speeds, but takes a lot of Ca$h to get really fast
