I have noticed that when the parking brake is locked in on my 2003 raptor the engine doesn't rev up. It just sputters and kills if I hold the throttle down. I'm just wondering If anybody elses does this and if there is anything I could do to it.

THANKS

In 2001 there was a rev limiter if the parking brake was engauged. May be the same for 2003. I have seen post where people have disabled the rev limiter.

Funny Story to follow:

I thought my raptor was really sick after bringing it home. Everytime I stopped to chat I would set the parking brake. Upon starting again I pulled in the clutch and tried to pull off. Spit Spit Cough Cough, I carried it back and complained and the tech adjusted my mixture and said it was fixed. Got home same thing and then one day its like the Lord himself shinned a light on the parking brake as I was trying to start. See the parking brake would not release until I let off the clutch so I was hitting the rev limiter. That same day a rain cloud came up so I decided to read completely through my Users manual. Guess What? It told me this in the manual.

Yes it's supposed to do that, keeps you from overreving with the e-brake on.

Aluminumarmy- use the search engine on this site and type in raptor jetting. Go to thread "raptor jetting question #43682" and go to BASHES site. He has the info in there right from the shop manual. Call a dealer for proper specs but the process[and specs]should be the same. If you have 1/2 a clue you can do this. Hope this saves you some cash. Now go buy something else to put on that thing.
