I am in the process of putting my raptor on a serious diet. Is the radiator fan necessary for cross country racing? If there are any cross country racers out there riding raptors what is your opinion. I have noticed that My fan does not kick on unless I sit at Idle for more than two minutes on days of 95F plus. It sure seems like a waste to me and extra weight. Where else can I trim weight?

New Tires and Rims and an axle are always a good place to start with on a diet. Then get into bolts and replacing anything that is steel with aluminum or such. On the fan, for XC racing, I would want to keep it on, you will have large amounts of mud clogging your fins, slower speeds and longer races than just joy riding, so in my opinion I would keep it on, if you decide to take it off, I would highly recommend a temperature gauge like the one on Eddie Sanders
