I was wondering if it's possible to reverse the front wheels on a Raptor. I know you would have to get shorter valve stems but was wondering if any of you have tried it. Have you had any probs? Is it a bad idea?

They are supposed to be directional tires. But if you take a look at the Z-400 Wonder Quad that uses the same wheels as the Raptor, you will notice that the tread pattern is going in the oposite direction.

It could be that due the amount of hype surrounding the Z400 that the tires don't actually make contact with the ground enabling it to spin and not blow apart like they would on a Tippy Raptor.

I'm not worried about the tires, I'm just trying to gain a little width. Just wondering if anybody ran into any probs doing this.

I was looking at it too one day, my local Yamaha dealer suggested that I invert the valve stem and drill a new whole on the other side and place a new stem in it and presto, you have more width. I haven't tried it yet but I am wanting too.

I would think if you had clearance you should be fine. I haven't tried it, but as long as you can mount them and push the quad without anything rubbing you should be good to go. It wouldn't take that long to give it a try. There is that black plastic brake rotor that may give you trouble.

Good Luck.

You can take you rims to any tire shop and have them put you a STUBBY valve stem in that should work.

A friend of mine did that to his. All he did was put shorter valve stems and had to sand the brake caliper a little so it would not rub.

It's okay. Go to Walmart and buy 2 new sets of valve stems. Take the stockers out, pop a set of the new ones in backwards, and drill a hole in the other side. Pop the new valve stems in, and get ready to be stable.. Or, stable'r'

I did this exact same thing on my wife's Honda 250EX... it worked great

just drilled new holes for new vavle stems, inverted the old ones, reversed the lug bolt bushings with the help of some washers as a shim... and WALLA!

and if you'r worried about the tread direction of the tires, just swap the wheels from left to right, problem solved
