Best plow for a 300 4x4?
#1
Dear guys,
I'm looking at getting a plow for my 99 Honda 300 this winter and wanted to know if there was any difference in the models that currently out. Is there a brand that is better than another? I was also looking into getting a winch to make using the plow even easier. Are there any brands that work better with a winch than other? Any information would be great.
Thanks,
Chris

I have a 50" Moose plow on my 450ES, and it does an awesome job. I use a Superwinch 2000 to raise and lower it. Some say the Moose plow is heavy. That's fine with me. The weight keeps it on the ground where it should be, and doesn't "ride up" on hardpacked snow like other lighter plows might. Your 300 should have plenty of power to use any of the plows on the market. You may need to add some weight to the back rack, but I would recommend you stay away from tire chains, unless you're going to be on ice most of the time. Feel free to email me with any questions.

I have a 48" straight plow on my King Quad. It is from cycle country. I can have it on or off in about 10 minutes pulling 3 pins (well 2 pins and a hook for the lifting chain)
I enjoy mine but have looked at moose and they seem a little heavier which could be an advantage (of course then a winch would be nice, I use a manual lift)
I have drilled an extra hole in my lift plate which allows me to have the blade a couple of inches off the ground and I don't have to hold it up. This helps when I do my neighbors drive which has a lot of small loose stones.
I have thought about the 60" blade but then you have to ensure that you have a way to haul it. And it is a little big for sidewalks.
As for as the shoes go, I just let the blade run on the ground. They can be helpful in certain situations but the stock ones are garbage. I have to order the heavy duty ones and try them out.
Yes it is a toy but I love it. It gives me an excuse to ride in the winter.
I have used it to push dirt which it will but the spring release can cause problems. I am thinking of rigging up a way to lock the blade when I need to push dir. Should be fun to do.

Got a moose plow, heavy is solid, light is weak, although most all the plows I have seen look sturdy, all winchs are good, all have there goods and bads, superwinch is a little bulky but still mounts in same area as a warn. Only get a rule winch if you plan to get stuck
