Answer is yes. THe DS650 can handle the extra load.

DS650 altenator is 290watts

Raptor altenator is 160watts.

Bombardier's got you covered.

The baja lights are awsome. I love them. They light up the ground like a snowmobile light. Very powerfull and safe.

Trail Tech makes good lights. You can try Ricky Stator but he is a lot more $$$. You need a mount made if you are going to be running big lights. My race lights are two 6in Piaa that Ricky Stator turned into HIDs. With the mount they run around $1400.00 I will see if I can post a pic.

I broke my stock head light and decided not to pay $$$ for that piece of s#$!. I ended up with 3 Hella on my DS. I have an 85W oval where the stocker was and a pair of 55W 2"x2.5", one on my bar clamp and one on the front bumper. I thought it might be a little much but after a night in Glamis I realized it is awsome. Even the riders behind me said they could see better from my lights than their own. It dosn't look the best, but it's nice to see.

Good luck.....

I just installed the Bombardier BAJA lights on my 2000 DS.
Installing the light housing's on the shock towers, without removing the shocks, was a bit of a hassle but they work great.
I'm also planning to install 2 TrailTech handlebar lights as soon as they are ready.
The stock stator should handle all lights w/ no problem.

I plan to get the Baja light kit - $119 from the dealer for all of it.

You can replace the bulb in your headlamp with a higher wattage. I use a 100/55W blue xenon instead of the stock 60/55W. 100W bright in the dunes, 55W dim for coming thruogh the campground. $13 at Dennis Kirk or JC Whitney, or any other offraod lighting distributor. DS uses H4 bulbs (9003 series). Auto parts stores carry this bulb, but most don't in the higher wattages due to street legal limits of 60W.

Oh, and tail light bulbs that blow all the time are 1157 trailer light bulbs, and can be replaced with LED's from most Autoparts stores. The LED will last many years, and most are guarenteed for 10.

I'm about done making some tail lights for the DS650.

The production run should be done within the next two weeks.
