Is there any way of getting more low speed touque for this machine? We do a lot of low speed hills, rock riding and some mud. Needless to say, I'm concerned for burning up a belt and also safety reasons. Its is my wife's so there is no concern for top speed. I really don't want to start doing all kind of modifications and have reliabilty/maintenece issues. I was thinking of changing from 40/11 sprokets to 40/10 or 44/11, but I can't find them. Yes, I know there are all kinds of pipe/jet/clutch kits, but I'm not looking to make a screamer or spending $500 and yes, we could have bought a 4x4 with low range, but spending $1,500 more for a bike when I didn't how much she would ride wasn't reasonable.

Thanks in advance

yes, changing gearing first in your case is the way to go,maybe a slightly different clutch setup will fit the need for your riding conditions, the more the rear sprocket is long, the more you'll have torque,if you shorten the rear sprocket the more top end speed you'll get...

The only sprocket that I could find that would lower your gearing 42 tooth on page 113 in the Rocky mountain ATV catalog #7. I could not find the sprocket on the web site. http://www.rockymountainatv.com The part number is P-2070R it's made by Primary Drive.

i sell alot of 42T sprockets for them and people are really really happy with the performance after than.

don't bother with exhaust and intake mods on the 325 engine, your just wasting money.

a clutch kit would be a good investment.

and i would also like to see what all the changes are to the new 330 (329) 2003 trail boss are. i know the 2003 has a 34mm carb, and more agressive clutching but i'd like to see what else they messed with in the engine.

other than that AAEN has a cam available for them thats supposed to work good.

Thanks for the input. I did a little more digging and I think a 10 tooth is too small for the output shaft. I guess a 42 on the rear would be OK, I just hope it is enough. I would be nice to make the changes without putting a new chain on too, though. Maybe I can cob a extra couple of links together.

The Mag 330 sounds interesting though, maybe I'll wait.

Hello, If not anything else, definitely buy a complete clutch kit for that bike. It will help belt slippage, hold in lower range longer and backshift much better. That is one of the best mods for a stocker you can do for it. That with another sprocket shouldnt run you much over 2 bills and get you the results you want.Bubba
