Well, let me explain it like this: Water boils at 212 degrees at normal atmospheric pressure. With the 13 pounds of pressure gained by the radiator cap, the coolant can reach about 235-240 degrees before boiling. Since you rarely boil the water, the cooling system can exceed 240 degrees. See where I coming from? If the cooling system doesn't go over 240 the parts around it can't be over 240. As you get farther away from the heat of the cylinder, towards the cases, the heat disapates and the temp is even lower. Normal high temp paint is rated to 500 degrees, over twice the temp your cases are. I wouldn't use standard spray paint. I had my TT bikes cases powdercoated. Looks great, last long, and works up to 400 degrees.
