Manufacturers are finally starting to realize the potential in the ATV market.
More competition.....best thing the sport could ask for.

The new GasGas has arrived in South Africa. Apparently for trial purposes before it hits the rest of the world. They are fully race ready and will compete with the Cannondale.
Available in 250 and 300 2 stroke and a 450 4 stroke.

Also in neighbouring Botswana, a new quad has arrived from Holland. It is called the VLS
There are 4 models on offer.
Rotax powered 2 stroke 250
Yamaha powered 4 stroke 426
KTM powered 2 stroke 560.......WOW!
Vertamati powered 4 stroke 630

When I say these are all race prepped, I mean it! (All hand built)

Im going to ride the GasGas shortly, will let you know my thoughts.

What do you think the chances of any of the 2 strokes making it to the U.S.? I'm thinking slim to none!!
The 450 4 stroke Gas Gas should be a nice quad.
I look forward to seeing these.

I'm surprised that nobody jumped on the Yamaha powered 426. Rumors abound about that motor being installed in a quad from Yamaha and if this is true this could be where Yamaha is testing this engine for this purpose.

I personally think the 426 will come out in a yamaha quad, but we can only wait and see. As far as the VLS426 goes, I wouldnt say yamaha has anything to do with it. VLS is a small company who concerntrate more on quality than quantity. I do think that Yamaha might take note on public interest in the bike. All VLS models look like the banshee, as they use the shee plastics. That is where the similarity stops, so dont be confused.

Here are some specs :

A-Arms - VLS
Spindles -VLS
Shocks - White Power
Axle - Heavy duty with Cam chain adjust
Chrome moly sub-frame with dual airfilter system

VLS250 (ROTAX)
HP - 47
Bore & Stroke - Std
Porting - Std
Head - Std

VLS450 (YAMMi 426)
HP - 42
Bore & Stroke - Std
Porting - Std
Head - Std

VLS560 (KTM)
HP - 65
Bore & Stroke - Modified
Porting - Modified
Head - Modified

VLS630 (VERTAMATI)
HP - N/A
Bore & Stroke - Std
Porting - Std
Head - Std

Umm. To late, you already did.

<< Yamaha powered 4 stroke 426 >>

That must be where my confusion comes into play.

Im a little dissapointed in the HP from the VLS2426. The good news is they are banging in a stock motor. Therefore plenty room for improvement ie. a wilder camshaft. They are saying that with this motor, there is potential to create a monster. I sure hope Yamaha build their own quad in the 400 class. If they do, I'll be the first customer. Think I'll keep my Rap though.
