New Pipes or New Suspension
#1
I'm looking to possible by either a new pair of Works front shocks or the Comlete Big Gun Exhaust. I'm not too sure what to buy, power or suspension. I perfer the smooth ride but also love the strong power. Which would you get for yourt 400EX? BTW- With the works shocks, whats better dual rate w/cans or Triple w/out cans? What do can's do anyway?

If I was in your shoes and had to decide between Works shocks or Big Gun exhaust, first I'd ask myself, "What is more important to me, a smoother ride or more power." If you do a lot of heavy jumping, mx, or like to scream through whoops but your shocks can't take them, aftermarket shocks would be a nice choice. But, I race mx and every racer I know wasn't too happy with the works shocks. I ended up getting TCS. If you ride dunes, mx, or want that bottom end to hit a little harder, a Big Gun exhaust would be a nice choice. With that you'd be faster out of the turns, faster up the hills, and you'd have to keep a little tighter grip on your bars. This is all probably stuff you've already considered, but I don't know what else to say. It all depends on your riding style and what you need most.

Evan, whoah! My sources told me that you had to marry some girl and you had settled down & was working at an Orange Julious stand..oh well rumors are seldom right
.
Any way even tho I don't ride a 400ex I do have an opinion. I'd do the boingers first. You know what I recommend...TCS's. But whatever, I think that improved suspenders would allow you make use of more of the performance you already have. Performance improvements without improving suspension can lead to over extending the stock set-up, resulting in some weird get-offs.
Well, just my nickel's worth.
