It seems to me that you guys down in the great old US of A don't have a scrath on your ds i say that because if i would take care of my ds like you guys do i would'nt have time to ride,i mean i take care of my ds but when it goes down to plastic and the look of the bike i really don't care,it really seems that you guys care more about the look than the riding your missing, you guys know what i mean or it is just me...

I like to keep my bike clean and looking good!!! I dont like my bike looking like crap. I paid good $$ for both of my ds 650's so i like to keep them as nices possible. Plus i like it when people say " hey nice ds" makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I always put my bike away clean, lubed, and ready for the next ride. I stop off and hose it down on my way home after every ride, and then by the time I arrive at my garage it is dry, and ready for wiping down and lubing. I don't like dirt in my garage any more than I like it on my quad. I'm in Indiana, and its all woods and fields so my bike gets as dirty as every body elses, but I like to show up at the beginning of the ride looking good.
Of course, its a lot easier if all you ride is sand or desert. A lot of guys out west never see woods with their quad, 'cause there isn't any woods around, and desert dust is a lot easier to hose off than the clay packed dirt/mud we have around here. If I had the dunes here that they have out west, I'd rarely see the woods trails - I love the sand - and it might just be enough to make me want to go all chrome and custom paint. But for reality in Indiana brushed aluminum and scratched plastic is the norm - I just prefer to not have my scratches packed with mud.

dswolf,
if u run over small trees then why do you have a sport atv. you need to get a utility. get a prairie 650. the best utility ever.

Sometimes a tree will be down over a trail, and you have to find an alternate around it. Woods trails require a lot of maintenance - I travel our private trails routinely on the Cat with the chainsaw. I've ran over many a tree on the DS - a-arm guards are next on my list. Wish had them before now...

just because he hits small trees wit his doesn't mean he shouldn't own a sport quad, in some trails there are a little tree or two,not a big deal, u should see my bumper, the paints commin off from the trees and long grass
