I have a Banshee and love it, But the Raptors are nice and fast, and the suspension is light years better than a Banshees! But with a 4 stroke you have to adjust valves and it cost more rebuild a 4 stroke, than a 2 stroke
more internal moving parts, and a piped 4 stroke is just to damn load!
I just love the smell of Premix it give me a woody.

If you're doing trails mostly, go with the Raptor. If you are going to be in the dunes much, go with the banshee (just because you can mod it to be a monster real easy). Are there many dunes in alaska? I lived in anchorage for a while, don't remember any...don't know, that was the longest 8 months of my life. Anyway, I love my raptor on the trails. Lots of power, responds well to mods, and theres a lot of aftermarket stuff for it. Mine always fires rights up with the electric start. You don't have to put a loud pipe on it. I hear LRD make a nice pipe, that's pretty quiet. Good luck with your choice. You'll love either one. I rode my buddies banshee, that things just crazy...he's supposedly getting 90 rwhp. When the power band hit the first time, it wheelied on me, and I damn near ended up in the bushes. I loved it!

STock banshee= lots of power, greatin dunes, twice as much to rebuild, fun, need to set up right if modded, fun, fun, fun, crud suspension.

stock raptor= good amount of power, too top heavy, great when modded w/a pipe, ok suspension, 4 stroke relibablity, fun but i like the banshee..

up to you though..

I have both and throw a ds in the mix also.

If I could only have one machine for all around riding, I think it would be the DS, but the banshee is probably my favorite ride right now.

I had a 93 shee, then sold it several years ago. I have missed that bike for quite awhile. Then, last year I was ready to get back into wheelin and bought a raptor, because everyone talked me out of the shee. It was ok, not near as fun to ride as the shee. After a trip to the dunes, I decided the raptor just was not all it was cracked up to be. I decided on the DS baja. And I have had more fun on that machine then should be legal. Again, if I could only have one machine it would be a hard decision, but I think the DS would be it.

Now, after many trips home from the dunes with me whining about how I wish I had a banshee, my wife finally broke and let me have one. I am so happy. I feel like I am a kid again. It is a blast to ride, everytime I come back from a ride I have a huge grin on.

In the end you have to decide. If I were picking a yamaha today, it would be the shee. It is just a more fun ride than the raptor in my opinion. You have to take into account a lot of things, and the decision is not easy. Good luck

It just depends on what you want. I have a Banshee, and I have several friends with Raptors. The Raptor is superior in every way except dunnin and draggin. If you aren't going to do either of these go with the raptor. If you do most of you time at the dunes or drag racing it must be the Banshee.

you can pipe and jet and do a pro design with k&n air filter for the raptor and it will come alive. But dont be fooled by the claims of 14hp or whatever. Most pipes will add a fair amount of hp, but it is usually in the mid range. not peak hp.

If I could only have one machine out of what I have, it would be the baja. It does everything well and is built substantially better then the raptor or banshee.

The Banshee is best suited for the Dunes. Sure it can be ridden in the dirt, trails, but that's not it's best element. The Raptor is a better all-around, all-terrain ATV. If you don't go to the dunes, or only go a couple trips a year, I'd go with the Raptor hands down. I also have and ride both of these ATV's and when I want excitement I take the Banshee out, If I'm tired, lazy, need to tow a buddy's dead ATV or or just want to put-around I ride the Raptor. The Raptor is a better handling ATV, takes less out of ya, IE: more relaxing & forgiving. Also if later you want more power you can re-build the top end (bore to 686 or 720), cam, jets, pipe Etc and it will beat most piped & ported Banshee's. My 2 cents..
