Street Legal DS
#1
Hey, anyone from Arizona (Maricopa County) have information on making their quad street legal? I know that I would need to install a horn and mirror but does it need to be registered and run through emissions? Do I need a motorcycle license? If anyone has successfully gone through the process let me know how you did it. Thanks in advance.

My 2000 DS is street legal in AZ.
Here's what you'll need to make it happen.
Horn, Mirror, Brake Light, Headlight, Proof of Insurance. Mine was registered with the DMV off the dealer MSO.
You'll need to produce whatever paperwork (title , etc.) you currently have.
You'll get a modified motorcycle tag and a new title.
The DMV is mostly interested in making sure you own the vehicle and the VIN matches the title.
When mine was inspected, it didn't have the mirror or horn and it had the sand tires on it!
No motorcycle license is required to operate it. Considered exempt in AZ.
Emissions was exempt (when new) but will be required like other vehicles every 3-5 years.

up here in my area, if your on a gravel road (which most roads near my house are) you just need to go under 80kph (speed limit), have a helmet on, and also have a license plate, insurance, title, and legal drivers license and you'll have no problem with the police, i'm don't think you can go on paved roads though
