Well, I got my new issue of ATVSport in the mail today, and they did a test on the new Polaris Predator 500. Here's what I know about it.

It has double a-arm suspension with Long travel Fox racing gas-charged shocks. The shocks are both Rebuildable, and revalvable. Rear Fox racing shock with 11in of travel, and Remote reservoir with 8 way adjustable compression, and 36-way adjustable rebound. It also has dual-rate springs, and is preload adjustable.

It comes stock with DOuglas .190 rims, and Maxxis Razr tires. Also steel braided brake lines, angled, and extended footpegs.

The predator sits lower than the Raptor, is wider than a Raptor, it is shorter, and has a longer wheelbase than the Yamaha Raptor.

Complaints: Grinding noise coming from the countershaft sprocket when in too high of a gear. Big snowmobile-like brake, and clutch levers. Plastic doesn't connect at the gas tank, so it is uncomfortable for your knees.

Good: They say it compares most to a Honda 440ex. The powerband felt similar, and the suspension felt like aftermarket. More stable than a Raptor, and very easy to ride.

That is pretty impressive, to me. What does everyone think about Pooplaris's new "wonder quad"

If the power feels like a 400ex, THEY de-tuned the HELL out of that thing.

If everyone could get a new quad, which would it be? Raptor, or Predator?

As for the speed...they say that they did no Acceleration or Top Speed tests (doesn't make sense to me, but most things that the mags do don't). Anyway, they said that it "seems much faster and quicker than the Honda and on par with the Raptor (only with better handling).".

Overall the review was pretty generic...I am looking forward to seeing what it will be like when these quads start to populate consumers garages.

I am sticking with my Raptor. Let's wait for the reliability reports and a more specific performance rating eval from the mags and this forum....I am still tipping to the side of the Raptor.
