hey guys, i am sellin my DS for a 400ex, and just want some info on the 400. well i ride moslty ditches and trails and the DS is getting a little to big for that. i have rode a couple 400's and i liked them, but i have a couple of questions. does the air cooling really affect it? does it overheat a lot in warm weather? i also plan on riding and hopefully racing soem MX and some harescrambles too, how much more power does a 440 give with diff pistons and cams and a fmf titanium 4 exaust/powerbomb headpipe. any info will be a great help. thanx in advance.

I have never had a problem with my EX overheating. There are some precautions you can take to keep the temp down, such as air scoops, a bigger oil tank, running a cooler plug, and running certain oils.

I have heard that the 416 kit is more reliable, revs faster, and in most cases out performs the 440.

Call Marcums ATV. 1-877-264-3409, Talk to Terry Marcum. He can tell you everything you need to know. He's a great guy, know his stuff, and his kit runs right around $300

I rode a 440 kitted ex and It is sweet. I doubt very seriously that the 416 would beat it, it did not over heat and was very trackable.

The 416 kit is every bit as dependable as stock. I know guys that have been running them for 2-3 years without a problem. On the other hand, I know a couple guys that had the 440 kit, and had problems throwing rods.
