I am just curious, how fast will my stock BigBear 400 4X2 go?

top speed is around 40-49 mph. That seems like a large difference, but i have seen some do both.

Wow, that seems really slow, is it underpowered? or just low geared?

It has a load of torque, it is geared very low. It needs a sixth gear.

Yeah I agree. I do love my big bear alot though but if it just had one more gear I would love it 10x more!

The motor will sound like it is ready to BLOW UP when at top speed. This bike can handle doing 45 all day long without hurting the engine. It is geared low because it is the workhorse of Yamaha. A 2x4 bigbear with Dirt Devil tires on the rear and the stock tires on the front will go through ALMOST anything that you want. I have seen this bike in some of the deepest mud holes and "stab" the gas, lift the front end, and she will wheelie right out of the muck. Yamaha built a high quality, hard working ATV with the bigbear. It does need a sixth gear for speed, but it wasnt made for speed.
