is the spot wehre it says HP on my tile for my 350x it says 28 hp is that correct or a estimation?

 

I would say that is correct right off the sprocket but not at the rear wheels.

 

I am inclined to beleave sister Chet is correct, praise the lord.

 

Crap...I don't have mine here from my EX, but I believe that it said 30 something (maybe 30, 32, or 36...not sure which). Either way I can tell you that isn't rear wheel horespower in this case.

I believe that is rear wheel horsepower if the 400ex has around the same RWHP. I have a trx350x and it is fast, when I'm pacing it with my raptor it has me looking for another gear on the raptor. They definitly built the 350x better than the 400ex in stock trims. In a quad frame the 350x does atleast 60-65mph and quick too.

 

Those HP numbers are at the CRANKSHAFT. Not the wheels, not the sprocket.....

 

How exactly would you measure power at the crank on a quad....?

 

An engine dyno?

 

but how would you hook it up to the crank ? And not the sprocket...?

 

The engines are not dynoed in the quad. I'm sure there is somebody who has done this here (I haven't) but essentially the engine crankshaft is connected to a dyno. You can easily see the crankshaft - The clutch on one side and the stator on the other side. I'm pretty sure these engines are dynoed at a R&D facility or something similar.
